Reporter: Adi, you recieved during your entire carrier, many awards. Are you still touched by the moments that you win another one?
Adrian Mutu: Why not? Who doesn't like winning, who doesn't like to know that he is appreciated for what he is doing? I want to thank your readers for the fact that they gave me their confidence again. From now on, I will try my best not to let them down, especially regarding the national team.
Reporter: Then, let's talk about the national team and about what will come for us this year. Is the match against Serbia, in march, decisive in qualification for World Cup from 2010?
Adrian Mutu: Yes, because we lost some ponits so far and we are not allowed to make mistakes anymore.
Reporter: Are we heading with a second chance in this match?
Adrian Mutu: Yes, Serbia is known by many as a strong national team. But this doesn't mean that the result is set before the end. We need the victory and we will give our best on the field in order to achive it.
Reporter: Would it be a tragedy if we don't qualify for the World Cup?
Adrian Mutu: Only for those players who are ending soon their carreer. I don't know if they would ever came close to this ocasion again. I don't want to be misunderstood, i wish with all my heart to play in the World Cup and i will keep my faith as long as we have the chances to do that.
Reporter: Why there are no more young players to make place for you in the national team?
Adrian Mutu: To be honest, i really don't know. I also thought about this thing some time ago, but i didn't find any answer. This thing should concern all those people who live in the romanian football.
Reporter: The match against Croatia will take place on 11'th of february, on Ghencea, where Steaua's fans always sweared at you. Your father says you would better boycott the action...
Adrian Mutu: I will respond the convocation and i will play in Ghencea. From my point of view there is no problem concerning the stadium or the Steaua's fans reaction. If this is the price i have to pay for playing at the national team, then i take full responsability for that. But i think Steaua's fans realised they don't have any reason to swear at me.
Reporter: Do you regret the fact the we did't have better results at Euro?
Adrian Mutu: Yes, i do. A team's life is made from several episodes, and at the Euro matches one episode made us stop in the group. And now i'm talking about that "11 meters" i missed in the match against Italy. Anyway, per total we were somehow happy about the result, because we took part of a very strong nad tough group. This was obvious in the last match, the one with Holland, when we were very tired.
Reporter: Why do the romanian players are not wanted anymore abroad like they used to be?
Adrian Mutu: This answer is fully related with the one above. Playing in the national team is the main opportunity for a player to go to a foreign team. There is no fresh blood in our national tea and there are no spectacular romanian transfers, also.
Reporter: Which one is the most valuable romanian football player of all the times? Hagi, Dobrin, Balaci....
Adrian Mutu: Gicu Dobrin.
Concerning the Brriliant's state of health, yesterdays' medical examination made by professor Bufalini, confirmed the lesion of the anterior articular capsule and denied the theory of any kind of fracture. The romanian player strated right away the therapy and after ten days his state of recovery will be evaluated and he will find out when he can begin again the training. If everything turns out to be fine, Adrian has full chances to play on 1'st of february, in the match with Bologna.
On the other side, the othopedist Vasile Popescu, from Floreasca Emergency Hospital, says that for sure the national team's star will end up to surgery. "Mutu sufferd a second dislocation in teh same place and the only way to recover is through a surgery. Otherwise, there are big chances that his elbow will decay the joint while doing the smallest effort, said the doctor from the romanian youth team U21. According to "Corriere dello Sport", if Mutu has to resort to surgery , he will be missing the ground between two and three and a half months, and any delay will give a higher risk concernig other psibile joints.
